There is a clicking noise when I turn left. It gets louder when I go faster.

Common questions

Everything drivers usually ask before joining the waitlist.

An AI mechanic is an app that uses artificial intelligence to explain car problems in plain English, the way a knowledgeable friend would. You describe a symptom, warning light, noise, or photo, and the AI analyses it against patterns from real car problems to explain what is likely going on, how serious it is, and roughly what it should cost to fix. No OBD scanner or extra hardware needed.

Carvy's AI has been trained on millions of real car problems, repair records and fault patterns across hundreds of makes and models. It is highly accurate for everyday issues. That said, it is not a physical inspection, so for anything serious always see a qualified mechanic.

Yes. Carvy supports UK-registered vehicles via number plate lookup, and international vehicles via 17-digit VIN. This covers virtually all modern cars in the UK, US, Canada, and beyond.

Carvy is for everyone. New drivers, parents, anyone who wants to understand their car without needing mechanic knowledge. Most drivers feel lost when something goes wrong. Carvy gives you simple, plain English answers right on your phone so you always know what is happening.

They solve different problems. An OBD scanner reads fault codes from your car's computer, which only works for issues that trigger a stored code, and the codes themselves are often cryptic without further interpretation. Carvy works from what you actually experience, a noise, a smell, a warning light, a symptom, with no scanner or hardware required, and explains it in plain English. For everyday issues that never trigger a fault code at all, an OBD scanner has nothing to read, but Carvy can still help.

No. Carvy works entirely from your phone. You describe what you hear, see, or feel, and Carvy figures out what it means. Apps like FIXD, Carly, and Carista all require a Bluetooth OBD dongle (typically £30 to £60 extra) before they can read your car. Carvy needs none of that. Just type your symptom and get your answer.
